Explaining Web2.0 (A New Map of the Mess)

it's been awhile since I've been asked what is Web2.0, which could mean a couple of things: the term is becoming more mainstream; people are caring less about it; I'm not talking to enough people. I'm not sure which is the solution but my answer to the Web2.0 question has always been lacking, in part because there's always been confusion or ambiguity about exactly what it means.

Tim O'Reilly is credited with coining the term in this now famous article and this Web2.0 meme map,

but there have been some meaning  additions to the discussion of Web2.0. Most notably was this video by Michael Wesch, Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology, which hit the web in late January '07 and earned him a WIRED 2007 Rave Award:

Now Information Architects Japan has helped update the blogosphere with this Web2.0 map designed like a subway map (hat tip TechCrunch):
